We live in a culture that celebrates participation – awarding trophies and ribbons to those who simply show up. The Apostle Paul, however, takes the idea of participation quite a bit further. He tells us that in God’s Kingdom, participation requires that we share in the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus as well as in the victories. How is the Spirit equipping believers today to win participation trophies?
