senior pastor - joseph west

Joe West is an Iowa native. He graduated from North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN in 1973. He married his wife Sharon while a student there. They began their ministry in Downers Grove in 1974 with 3 families and an old building on Fairview Ave. In 1979, the church purchased the property on Hobson Road. In 1982, they completed Phase I. In 1989 Phase 2 was completed, consisting of a gym and classrooms.

Joe and Sharon have enjoyed having the opportunity to make their home in Downers Grove and raise their 3 sons, Matthew, Joel and Adam. Joe was active in Downers Grove sports with his boys. He coached Little League and YMCA leagues. All of their sons are married and have 1 child and live in Nashville, TN. Matthew, Emily, Lulu & Delaney, Joel, Arianne & Briton, and Adam, Abby & Boston. Joe and Sharon are enjoying their new names, "Nanny & Poppy." They love spending time with the grandchildren.

youth pastor - michael hapner

Michael is a 22 year old student at Moody Bible Institute, wahoo!!!! He was born in Texas, raised in Ohio, and moved to Chicago almost three years ago. He enjoys good books, the outdoors (hiking, camping…), making goofy movies with friends, paintball and airsoft, grilling (STEAKS!), philosophy, apologetics, and all sorts of other stuff. His biggest passion, however (aside from Jesus), is music…more specifically, writing, singing, playing guitar and performing. He also thinks its excellent that he has met Robert Redford twice while attending HRCC.

student life pastor - andrew kupisch

Andrew Nathan Kupisch was born in Hinsdale and raised in Downers Grove. He graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island with a major in Sociology and Religion. He is currently taking courses towards a masters in Elementary Education at Concordia University of Chicago. During the summers at Downers Grove, Andrew also works as a day camp counselor for the park district. He loves to participate in sports such as cycling, running and soccer. Andrews other interests include reading military history, watching the history channel, talking about history and engaging in any goofy, lighthearted shenanigans.

worship pastor - kelly condron

Kelly was born and raised around Chicago. She lived in Indonesia for a few years while her parents were missionaries there and upon returning to the states ended up in good ol' Lemont. She got a music degree from Greenville College in Southern Illinois and since then lives in the the city of Chicago. She has always loved music and always wanted it as her career. Before coming to Hobson Road Community Church in the spring of 2010, she worked at a music academy and toured the country playing original music with her band. Kelly loves road trips, having people randomly stop over, anything having to do with jello, and writing music.

worship leader/office manager - lissy mcgarvey

 

Lissy McGarvey was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. She went to Taylor University, where she met her husband Andrew, and graduated in May of 2009 with a degree in Biblical Literature and a minor in Church Music. Lissy and Andrew moved to Downers Grove to be apart of HRCC in the spring of 2010, and have enjoyed their new home and church family.

Some of the things Lissy enjoys the most are scrapbooking, coffee dates, flowers, and writing songs. Welcoming people into her home is also always a joy. You will often find Lissy and Andrew outside with a baseball or football anytime there’s good weather. They also love to travel, and with Andrew’s family in Florida they try to get down there as much as possible. Any adventure is always welcome- and with God there’s always one waiting just around the corner!
