- We Are Hobson Road Community Church -
Hobson Road Community Church has served the people of Downers Grove and surrounding communities for more than sixty years. We are a vibrant, growing community of individuals and families who seek a more meaningful relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
HRCC is an Assemblies of God congregation, and we subscribe to the Assemblies of God doctrinal statements. However, the members of our congregation come from a variety of faith backgrounds. At HRCC, they have found meaningful friendships, encouragement, and sound biblical teaching.
Most of our gatherings are relatively casual – you’ll find folks in business suits and others in t-shirts. We sing contemporary music, but also value the traditional hymns of our Christian heritage. We love to encourage families to worship together, and often plan events and services designed for all generations to be in community. We participate actively with mission work at home and around the world. Most of all, we passionately pursue our journey of faith, believing that God’s plans for us are best!
We hope you’ll join us soon . . .
Dan grew up in Villa Park, Illinois. In his early twenties, he took his first full-time ministry position - he was the worship leader at Hobson Road Community Church (then called Suburban Assembly of God). He ended up spending nearly fourteen years as a music pastor in two different churches.
Now the lead pastor of HRCC, Dan enjoys nothing more than preaching and teaching God's Word. His experience with various short-term global missions projects has given him the opportunity to do so in many parts of the world. Dan and his wife Sue, along with their children, Jessica and Tyler, are proud to call HRCC their home - a church committed to the task of making disciples and reaching the nations!
Student Ministries Pastor
Garrett grew up in the west suburbs of Chicago, being surrounded by an immediate and extended family that loves and follows God whole heartedly.
Despite growing up in a Christian vacuum of gospel music and Spirit-driven church services, Garrett didn't truly encounter God until his sophomore year of college while studying advertising at Columbia College in Chicago. Within a short time period, Garrett received the baptism of the Holy Spirit which was an absolute game changer in his faith, propelling him further in his relationship with God. After spearheading the planting of a campus outreach program called Chi Alpha on Columbia's campus, Garrett then graduated and moved to California to attend Bethel's School of Supernatural Ministry.
At the end of his time at Bethel, Garrett had accepted the ministry position at Hobson Road, prompting him to move back to the Chicagoland area. In addition to student ministries, Garrett also works at Northen Seminary as an admissions counselor and runs an evangelistic apparel company called "Trumpet Apparel".
Children's Ministry Director
A longtime member of the HRCC congregation, Catt now serves as our director of Children's Ministries. Catt has a wide variety of experiences in both private and public childcare, where she has worked with children from birth through elementary school.
Catt and her husband (who were married at HRCC) have both served as volunteers in a variety of roles in our children's ministries prior to Catt taking on the director's position. They are beloved by kids (and parents!) of all ages.
Kelly joined the HRCC team in May of 2019. She has served churches throughout Chicagoland land and is excited to now be able to minister so close to home in Downers Grove. Beyond her administrative gifts, Kelly is passionate about serving especially among the marginalized and disadvantaged in our communities. She brings tender care and compassion to all she serves!
Jenna is a passionate, burrito loving, coffee addicted, singing individual. Growing up in Downers Grove, Jenna was raised in Christian home knowing Jesus and calling HRCC home. She has served as a part of the HRCC worship team since she was 16, where she felt the call of God on her life to pursue Worship Ministry.
In January of 2018, she got on a plane to Sydney, Australia to begin her Worship Ministry Degree at Hillsong College. During her time at Hillsong; She felt God heal old wounds in her heart and transform her theology and knowledge of who He is. This changed Jenna’s entire posture of worship and released her to be the worshipper God called her to be.
